Jeepers Creepers: Things I found unbelievable
First, as a Christian I don't believe that a loving God would create that kind of thing. Design it that way for what purpose? To feed on mankind? No, it doesn't make sense from that perspective at all. With that in mind here is my view on the film itself from a purely viewer perspective.
The purpose of the movie is to terrify ? Well, then it succeeded in my case, since I felt terrified watching this film. The sheer evil of this supposed creature, its single-minded effort to kill and devour, its persistent invulnerability, and its hideously demonic appearance, all contributed to creating an atmosphere of intense apprehension.
However, the motives for checking out that shaft, I found unconvincing. Why? Well, first, the two people involved had already been harassed by that person whom they saw standing and depositing something in that shaft. He had almost run them off the road a few moments before. That harrowing experience left the both in extreme fear. So when they see the driver, whose appearance is menacingly unearthly staring back at them, the natural inclination would not be to return to that place and begin investigating while risking his returning at any minute.
Escape? LOL! They couldn't outrun it. The girls's brother had fearfully said that the truck was souped up after the weirdo again caught up to them and put them through the same harassing experience. So returning to that place to investigate while ignoring the strong possibility that the weirdo might be a murderer-isn't exactly what is normally expected from normal people. Which of course makes it unbelievable.
Next, why would the guy tell his sister to hold him by his ankles? She lacks the strength to pull him back up. At that angle that she is standing, she can't use leverage. The fact that she let herself be convinced into that idea, as if she thought she could pull him back up, seems out of character.
Then when he falls, he lands on his back even though he was sliding face down. Are we expected to believe that he turned himself over because he preferred to land on his back? That means he could not break his fall by using his arms. Completely contrary to what humans would instinctively do while falling.
Then after he confirms that the guy is a serial killer, he sends his sister to stand by the road, knowing full-well that the maniac could be returning down that road at any moment and see her.
This sequence of events expects the viewer to go along for the sake of cutting the movie directors a break because they either can't see the flaws or just don't care?
Having said this, the actors all did an excellent job in conveying their emotions. The brother sister relationship was very believable. The extreme fear experienced by both characters was very well portrayed. The excellent acting includes the old lady with the cats. The psychic. The police officers. Even the people at the diner. The body language of the man in the monster suit was also convincing.
