Which is the Most Intelligent Animal?
Which has the intelligence closest to humans? Dolphins? Dogs? Elephants? or Bonobos?
The four animals mentioned above are all considered very exceptional. Elephants are said to have excellent memory and even to mourn their dead, something which entails a recognition of the end of life and a common human reaction that we don't see among most animals.
Elephants are one of few species of mammals other than Homo sapiens sapiens and Neanderthals[citation needed] known to have or have had any recognizable ritual around death. Elephants show a keen interest in the bones of their own kind (even unrelated elephants that have died long ago). They are often seen gently investigating the bones with their trunks and feet while remaining very quiet. Sometimes elephants that are completely unrelated to the deceased still visit their graves.[15]

They are also capable of producing works of art while wielding a paintbrush with their trunks.
I'm surprised all the dog lovers haven't chimed in with their votes for the dog. After all, they are fond of constantly proclaiming that their canine pets are practically human. Some even call them their fur babies and refer to themselves as their mommy. I'm surprised that you view dogs that way. Most people I encounter consider them almost human. They even refer to them as their fur babies and refer to themselves as their mommies.
I tend to favor the bonobo over the chimp set the chimp because of the chimp's tendency to be irrationally violent. On the other hand humans have the same tendency. So maybe factoring that in is a necessity in order for us to determine which resembles us most. Ironic isn't it?
