The Halo Drive and Anti-matter similar downside irony Funny how two things which look so promising in making interstellar travel possible, the Halo Drive and Anti Matter Drive, have the same drawback, our need to travel light-years just to get to where they can be employed.
For example, anti matter availability in abundance, is unfortunately, located near the galactic hub and our galactic hub is approx. 26-thousand light-years away.
Halo Drive Drawback
Another way suggested is the employment of a halo drive. But this presents us with the same problem. The drive requires a fast-rotating binary stars, or a black hole but these are also light years away.
The problem is that the nearest black hole is 3000 light years away In other words, if indeed they will ever be used, then some other method for interstellar travel will be needed to make it possible. But if we already have achieved interstellar travel capabilities, then why would we go through all that trouble? Ironic indeed!
