Why no Atoning Sacrifice for Sinful Angels?
Just recently I encountered the question about why God did not provide atoning sacrifice for sinful angels as he did for mankind. Well, those who ask this are forgetting one very important difference between the sins of angels and the sins of mankind.
You see, in contrast to us humans, who inherit sin as soon we are conceived, angels do not. Instead, angelic sinfulness is based on a decision that each angel personally makes and each one is therefore totally responsible for his present condition.
For example the Devil chose to rebel as did each angel who took part in disobedience during Noah's day when they chose to tamper with the genetics of mankind via procreation with women. None of those rebellious angels can blame a fallen nature for their sins, since they had been perfect holy angels when they made that rebellious choice. So each must carry the full burden of his own decision.
In short, since there is nothing involuntary about angelic rebellious state, and their condemned condition cannot be attributed to the decision of some distant ancestor who affected them without their consent, as Adam has done to us, no atoning sacrifice can be offered, and they must pay the death penalty for having chosen to sin themselves.
In contrast, we fallen humans, were not at Eden when Adam and Eve stupidly decided to rebel and then proceeded to pass on there dying sinful nature to us. So we are actually the victims of a decision we did not make since we sin involuntarily due to an inherited sinful nature and are condemned to death as soon as we are born. Because of this very crucial difference, our sins can be annulled by someone innocent who is willing to pay the death penalty on our behalf, and that someone was Jesus.
