Is lurking a negative behavior?
Lurking tends to have a negative connotation associated with being passive, voyeuristic, or even lurking with malicious intent. However, it’s important to recognize that lurking is a legitimate online behavior that has both positive and negative aspects.
On one hand, lurking can foster knowledge acquisition, understanding, and empathy, allowing individuals to make well-informed decisions or find solace without actively participating. On the other hand, excessive lurking or using lurking as a means to manipulate or harm others can indeed be problematic.
