The Surgery That Should've Never Happened | The Tragic Case of Michael Skolnik
There is this very popular idea, especially among medical professionals themselves, that they should be considered beyond suspicions of purposefully or even accidentally harming a patient. However, the reality is that the malpractice cases conclusively prove otherwise. So a patient's concern when under the care of a medical practitioner is certainly justified.
Why does this happen? Well very simple. It's because medical practitioners are human, and humans, unfortunately, make mistakes either accidentally, or purposefully. This can be due to some serious personality defect such as a predisposition towards sadism, or else perhaps based on an erroneous sense of patriotic responsibility to target certain people of certain races or ethnic backgrounds.
In short, there is absolutely nothing wrong with being concerned when being treated by medical professionals since a blind trust can lead to very unpleasant results that can include even death.
The case below is an extreme one that was heartrending for both the victim and the his family. I post it as an example of just how wrong it is to blindly trust people simply because they have undergone education and training. Better to hold such individuals as potentially dangerous, and to interact with them with extreme caution instead of blind trust, a blind trust that they obviously do not deserve,
