Last Voyage of the Demeter Review
I agree with most of what the video narrator film-critic says about the acting and the scenery. They were certainly excellent. However, he seems to miss the symbolical nature of this film which is being cunningly used in order to convey a Satanic message. What Satanic message? Well, that contrary to what we are told clearly in the Bible, evil will forever remain unstoppable. No, not just by human efforts, but by God himself.
This blasphemous concept is repeatedly emphasized by having Dracula's victims using crucifixes in their attempts to ward off Dracula, and having him totally ignore them and savage them anyway.
The ship itself, where this evil is shown running rampant and where it remains totally impervious to human efforts to stop it, represents human society, as the main character, the ship's black physician, clearly indicates via comparison.
So by extension, his attempted destruction of the ship in order to destroy Dracula, indicates that the only way that he thinks that the Devil, whom Dracula represents, will ever be destroyed is via the total destruction of the Earth itself.
Notice that any effort to leave the ship proves futile, since Dracula is depicted as pursuing anyone who tries it. So attempting to go elsewhere, such as Mars, or any other distant place in the universe, which the ocean in this film symbolizes, will prove useless since Satan will stubbornly follow.
In short, the film's message goes completely contrary to what the Bible clearly tells us. That God will indeed very easily destroy Satan, and that Earth will be transformed into the global paradise that it was originally intended to be.
So by denying the certainty of this biblical promise, the film is indirectly attacking the authenticity of Jesus' ransom sacrifice which makes God's blessing of mankind possible via forgiveness of sins based on his death. In short, it is Satanic propaganda very cunningly camouflaged as harmless entertainment.
