Biblical View of Punishment for Murder Some Christians might be against Capital Punishment for the crime of murder. That is when someone takes the life of another human being unlawfully and maliciously. They might see it as barbaric. But the Bible is very clear. In fact, even before the Law given to Moses, punishment for murder was required to be death. The following was spoken to Noah immediately after the Flood. It was later REPEATED in the Mosaic Law. Cities of Refuge were established where those who accidentally killed someone could seek protection from the person's closest of kin who had the right to avenge the death. But murderers were not allowed there. So giving a murderer less than capital punishment, such as 25 years in jail, is actually not biblically approved.
