Smirking and Smiling over Former Doctrines?
I just watched a YouTube video where members of the Jehovah's Witnesses Governing Body, AKA The Faithful and Discrete Slave, were dispensing what they once again are tagging as new light.
Now, for those unfamiliar with the Jehovah's Witness term, new light, it is referring to teachings that are suddenly presented, and which contradict former recent doctrines which had once been fervently printed and studied in the WTBTS publications, and had been enthusiastically preached and taught as irrefutable truths.
Now such doctrinal turnarounds aren't new in this organization. They have been going as far back predictions in reference to 1914, a year in which Pastor Russell, the organization's founder, had predicted that the end of the world would arrive, and during which the faithful would be resurrected to heaven. Yet, nothing of the sort happened.
Of course, when this prophecy failed, they came up with the idea, perhaps after feverishly wracking their brains for days, that the end, or the beginning of a period of time referred to as the end times, had in fact indeed arrived, and that Christ was invisibly present in his Kingdom ruling among his enemies until they would finally be put under his feet at the War of Armageddon which would SOON arrive.
Well, this pernicious discarding and tagging of old revered doctrines as flawed, and calling the new ideas that they come up with as being new light delivered to them from heaven, is now once again in full progress.
However, one difference makes the deception harder now. First, there simply have been too many drastic doctrinal changes which tend to undermine the trust of the organization's members. There is a limit to human gullibility, after all. Even worse, those making such sudden and drastic doctrinal declarations were once virtually invisible to the Witnesses who held them in profound awe. Now, however, thy can be observed on the Internet, and this adds an entirely new revelatory dimension to this phenomenon .
You see, now they can be seen unabashedly chuckling as they speak about their former sacred beliefs as if they had been totally silly. As if believing these same formerly sacred things now would be totally and idiotically absurd.
"After all", they smugly now seem to say, "how could anyone in his right mind even vaguely imagine such foolishness, since it is so obviously clear that the Bible never said such things?"
The audience, who seems always in deep awe of being in their supposedly holy presence, of course, is expected to react with applause, and to find a certain humor in the situation itself. After all, these are supposedly members of The Faithful and Discrete Slave Class who Jesus appointed over all his spiritual belongings during the last days. So their example must be meticulously followed lest God become displeased by our disrespect.
Thus being in a mesmerized awe, the audience still tends to cut them some slack and applaud since they feel honored for being in such close physical proximity to such blessed individuals whom they believe were given such a holy task and who even claim to be destined to rule the universe as kings along with Christ.
That was the usual way that audiences reacted. However, this time, there seemed to be a certain hesitation. It was as if the Governing Body had somehow gone too far this time with there smug declarations of new light and unceremonial rejections of what had once been deemed essential.
Perhaps because this time, their supposed new light very drastically demolished aspects of JWS worship that had once been deemed an identifying hallmark of JWs. Practices in which they had taken profound pride because they distinguished them from the rest of what they referred to as Christendom, part of the World Empire of False Religion. For example:
1. Turning in time reports for engaging the house to house ministry.
2. Considering the doors to salvation being shut once Armageddon starts.
There was also a very annoying repetitive effort at justifying the changes via repeating the slogan:
so frequently, as to be obvious that they were striving to modify former ways of thinking and dishonestly attempting to conceal their true motives.
To make matters worse, insult was added to injury via the occasional sarcastic smiling, snickering, and joking concerning former beliefs which they themselves had been fervently teaching as irrefutable truths merely a few months before.
Such a blatant expectation of unconditional gullibility seemed to be perceived as going a bit too far in the eyes of those who had obediently disseminated those previous concepts as irrefutable truths, and who had also very drastically modified their personal opinions, and their entire lives based on the so-called veracities that these hypocritical bozos were now choosing to casually and callously banter and giggle away.
In short, whatever it is that motivates these elderly members of the so-called Governing Body, it definitely isn't doctrinal accuracy. If indeed it were doctrinal accuracy, then they would refrain from flippantly discarding those beliefs for others as if they were merely changing socks, and claiming that dogmatism had led them astray.
Instead, one must seek mundane motives for these drastic doctrinal changes, such as prevention of discouragement for failed prophecy as in 1914. And now, the gradual loss of members and resulting monetary deficits which they have deemed unacceptable. In short, if indeed push comes to shove, these guys will be willing to discard the following:
1. The teaching that only 144,000 go to heaven.
2. Their Lord's Evening Meal participation Restrictions,
3. Their condemnation of blood transfusions.
3. Their condemnation of holidays such as Christmas as being pagan.
4. They condemnations of birthdays as pagan.
5. Disfellowshipping and shunning.
All these along with a plethora of other former beliefs deemed detrimental to organizational prosperity, will very probably be considered expendable in order to keep the organization financially afloat by luring more members into the WTBTS scheme, and in that what conserve their comfortable financial niche which provides them with a life of leisure and prestige. As for truth itself? Well, heh! heh! That is obviously expendable.

Disrespectful Attitude
