Latina Heads of State
There is this very popular misconception that Latino men are machista. That is to say, that they are culturally predisposed on demanding that women always take a subservient role to men both domestically and otherwise. Well, if indeed that is so, then we shouldn't have any Latina heads of state, right?
Well, very curiously, there have been fifteen female heads of state not including one governor of Puerto Rico, who was elected to office just as every other woman on this list was. In contrast, we have had no woman president in the United states, a country that constantly boasts about equal rights for women.
