Mexicans are Racists?
I just watched a video where Mexicans are accused of being against dark-skinned representations in movies. Well, please note that Erick Estrada is a dark-complexioned Puerto Rican, and was allowed to play the leading role in a Mexican Novella.
Yes, certain Mexicans did complain. However, it wasn't because he is dark-skinned. It was because he is Puerto Rican and Mexicans in general do not like Puerto Ricans due to Puerto Rico's close association with the United States. We also have Mario Moreno Cantinflas who was a beloved Mexican movie star of dark complexion.
Also, the African American video-host ignores the very important fact that Mestizos are usually not light-skinned, and yet, the vast majority of Mexicans identify as Mestizo, and not as white. In fact, only a meager 15 percent of Mexicans identify as white.
Discrimination? Well, the last governor of Mexican California before the Anglos took over, was an Afro Latino. The First president of Mexico was a dark-skinned Mexican with strong black African roots. This took place during the time that slavery in the USA was going on full force.
In fact, USA escaped slaves were fleeing to Mexico seeking sanctuary and were being protected there and mercifully provided with the opportunity to start a new life as free men. This was also the policy in Spanish Florida.

The Little-Known Underground Railroad That Ran South to Mexico
Unlike the northern free states, Mexico didn’t agree to return people who had fled slavery. The Underground Railroad ran south as well as north. For enslaved people in Texas, refuge in Canada must have seemed impossibly far away. Fortunately, slavery was also illegal in Mexico.Researchers estimate 5,000 to 10,000 people escaped from bondage into Mexico, says Maria Hammack, who is writing her dissertation about this topic at the University of Texas at Austin. But she thinks the actual number could be even higher
