Sense of Humor Deficiency
Ever notice how some persons appear totally impervious to any type of humor? While everyone else is laughing at some joke, they are always sitting there morosely with this sour, or indifferent expression on their faces.
Ever wonder exactly what can be actually going on? I did, since I was exposed to that kind of garbage attitude for a full fourteen years to a spouse who vehemently refused to be seen laughing at any joke, or showing any hint of humor in my presence.
Now, the problem was that whenever this was on the phone with her NY family, she was al constantly chuckles, he-haws and giggles for hours on end. So I finally concluded that this was no deficiency at all. Instead, it was simply a malicious attempt at psychological aggression. Well, my suspicion was finally confirmed when I read an article that explains the the many motives that produce that noxious phenomenon. Below is an excerpt that confirms my suspicion.

Do you want to punish the person? Not smiling at a person’s attempt at humor is a passive-aggressive way to diminish them. Might awareness of that motivation be a baby step toward stopping it?

In other words, they are out to get you feeling bad about yourself. Needless to say, such persons should be avoided like the Bubonic plague. Not easy to do in a marriage true. But very easy to do in reference to anyone with that attitude on a public discussion forum such as Twitter. One click of the ban button and poof! The person is gone.
