Does Belief in A creator = Belief in Santa and the Tooth Fairy?
First, please note that my personal belief in a creator of the universe is not merely based on what a book tells me. Even if the Bible and all other religious books were nonexistent, I would still arrive at the same conclusion based on my observations and the application of cogent reasoning.
Is believing in a creator the equivalent in believing in Santa Clause or in the the Tooth Fairy? Well, some people might claim it is. But is that truly so?
Well, for that to be true, these beliefs would need to be similar to belief in a creator. Are they indeed similar? And if not similar, what is it exactly that makes belief in a creator different?
Interestingly, the answer can be found in the Bible itself which describes the reason why they are completely different in a very crucial way. Here is the scripture that describes that essential difference.
◄ Romans 1:20 ►
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.
Notice that it says creation itself offers evidence of a creator. This evidence is even more compelling now that science has revealed the intricacies of human life at the microscopic level where we have molecular machines repairing a DNA code that contains the necessary information for the assembling of complex organisms. To make this possible an RNA molecule is provided to READ the Information and relay it to those other molecular machines which then meticulously carry out those specific instructions.
Such a system is impossible without a mind to assemble it and set it in motion. Below is a visual illustration of the intricate process.
Santa and the Tooth Fairy?
In contrast, there is absolutely no evidence for the existence of either Santa or the Tooth Fairy while there is very compelling evidence for the existence of a creator. In short, the comparison between these two beliefs and belief in a creator, amounts to a false analogy.
