Why I assume Theophobia as the basis of atheism. I was recently asked why I keep attributing much of atheism, or the disbelief in gods or a God, to theophobia. I responded to this accusation in the following way: In short, I am not assuming such intentionally-irrational persons of believing in gods or a God and fearing them. The fact that they are atheists goes contrary to that assumption. I am merely saying that they have a very strong aversion or fear of the POSSIBILITY that their logical reasoning might confirm the existence of a God-so they refuse to reason logically in order to avoid having to reach such a conclusion.
In the desperate process of denial at all costs, they employ selective blindness and inconsistency of policy. seeing only what they wish to see and only applying the rules of logic when deemed convenient. Which, of course, goes completely contrary to the scientific method, and demonstrates that the scientific method will be ignored if it leads to a belief in a creator. Which of course makes them hypocrisies and quacks.
