God ponders misperceptions.
By Radrook
In his spiritual domain called heaven, in a location that the Bible describes as his throne, the almighty being that created all things in heaven and on earth, the entity that most humans refer to as God, was pondering a persistent phenomenon. Wherever he looked upon the worlds that he had communicated with within his material universe, there were still areas of confusion concerning his personality despite making himself clearly known.
He had done so by inspiring their planetary denizens to write what humans referred to as the Bible. True, the details differed from world to world, but the essence of his personality was indelibly inscribed in each version, so there was absolutely no need for the constant misunderstandings that kept resurfacing.
For example, why would one world depict him as cruel and capable of sending people to be roasted alive forever if they disobeyed any of his instructions, when he had clearly told them that the punishment for disobedience was death-a cessation of all the senses or total oblivion? A literal return to the elements from which their bodies had been composed? Dust to dust? Yet, some of his creatures stubbornly insisted on depicting him as some sadistic monster that took pleasure in inflicting eternal agonies on the helpless with no benefit to anyone. This hurt him the most out of all the misperceptions that had arisen and that had been cunningly propagated by his enemies.
Why would the denizens of yet another world view him as in desperate need of their comfort , as if he were either equal or inferior to them in some mysterious way? Lowering him to their flawed and mortal level, and divesting him of all his infinite wisdom, justice, love when he had clearly revealed himself as needing nothing? He supposed that it comforted them in some way to imagine themselves equal to their creator, or even superior, since their creator now needed their help via emotional support. This, of course, had led to wanton disobedience to his laws, because if he was weak, then who was to punish their sin?
Why would the denizens of yet other worlds prefer to imagine him as forgiving all behavior regardless of its innate depravity. On Earth, for example, many were interpreting his Son’s Ransom sacrifice as a license to ignore all of his specific instructions concerning proper human behavior and were approving all the things that he had clearly condemned, things that he considered abominable. In short, they viewed him as some uncaring doting father that approved of anything that his children might do, regardless of how harmful it might be, and regardless of how it ignored his clearly-expressed wishes.
No, this was not how he had revealed himself to his creatures. Instead, he had very clearly told them that insistence on disobeying his commandments, would not result in lowering his head humbly and helplessly weeping, as if in desperate need of human consolation.
Instead, he would become wrathful and take whatever action was deemed necessary to rectify the situation, even if it meant the annihilation of all those who stubbornly refused to abide by his righteous statutes. The inspired book of Revelation and its other interplanetary versions had been provided for that purpose-so humans had absolutely no justifiable excuse for their silly, and self-serving misperceptions about his personality.
Furthermore, to make certain that he was understood, historical evidence of how he reacted to disobedience was provided. The Genesis account of the global flood, hurled against a wicked, demonically-invaded and genetically-contaminated pre-Flood Earth, is one example. His violent reaction against the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, the twin cities which disregarded how he wanted mankind to behave sexually, an example mentioned by his son Jesus and his disciple Jude as a poignant reminder of his specific wishes. Thus all deviations from those wishes, and all ideas contrary to those wishes, are rendered totally inexcusable.
The entity we call the Creator, considered all these things, as he sat pondering the reasons why some of his creatures continued to understand things in such drastically-warped ways. Of course, the reason was very clear, and he, being all-wise, already knew. It was the same reason that motivated Adam and Eve, the first human couple, when they decided to go astray. It was the seemingly-irresistible desire to be as he was, the only one whoultimately determines good from evil or right from wrong. It was the seemingly-inherent desire to be a law unto themselves and not feel any obligation to abide by any other moral criteria but their own.
The creator had pondered this persistent phenomenon repeatedly in divine amusement, and compared it to certain other worlds where his creatures had understood him perfectly, and had chosen to remain obedient to his caring loving instructions. In these untarnished Edens, he had always been accurately perceived because they had chosen to accept his messages delivered to them via inspiration as had been done with humans. As a result, these creatures had been blessed with life eternal in perfect health and they prospered and brought joy to his benevolent eternal heart because they viewed him as he was, merciful yet always firm, approachable, yet always expecting to be heeded, and had accepted his statutes as an expression of his infinite love and not his selfish need to dominate.
Yet, despite the vast differences between humans and these other faithful creatures, the entity we call the Creator felt pity and remained patient since humans also are his children imbued with reasoning ability and capable of reflecting his divine image via expressions of love, justice, wisdom and power whenever they chose to.
Of course, the Creator chose to smile patiently when some dared to imagine him as being desperately in need of human comfort and mercy instead of the other way around. Yes, despite such disrespectful ideas bordering dangerously on blatant blasphemy, he still planned to bless them in due time, a time when Earth would be divested of all corruption and he would take full control of human affairs. “Soon very soon!” he pondered in his infinite wisdom as he gazed at mankind and the rest of his universal creation from his lofty heavenly throne.
