The more I see disasters of different kinds befalling people, the more convinced I become that anything that can happen does happen, and that it all depends on chance. In short, feeling as if one is under some kind of special protection is not rational. The scripture tells us in Ecclesiastes, that unforeseen events befall us all. At least under the present system of things, this seems to be the case. Under God's kingdom rule of Earth, one expects a vast difference, of course. But until then, there are obviously no guarantees.
