How would you react?
The vehemence with which people hold on to their theological views concerning the nature of God, has led me wonder how a person resurrected to heaven would react if he or she were suddenly in the presence of the creator, and he turned out to be completely different physically from what the person believed. For example, suppose God doesn't turn out to be a Triune God? Suppose that instead, Jesus is revealed as a created being, the first one among many sons through which all other things were created as Unitarians believe? Would you as Trinitarian, refuse to accept that you are indeed before God in Heaven? Or would you panic and attempt to bolt?
The same applies to Unitarians. Suppose after having died and gone to heaven, you as a Unitarian suddenly find yourself in the presence of a Trinitarian God, what would your reaction be? Refusal to believe that you are actually before the presence of the almighty heavenly Father because, in your view, the almighty is not a triune God consisting of Father, Son and Holy Spirit all co-equally God?
Would you actually panic and beg to be released from that place because you cannot accept it as heaven? Would you even tend to suspect that the entity before you is actually Satan in disguise and that you are in the mythical hell or that you haven’t died at all but that you are hallucinating absurdities? Even after being certain, that the entity is indeed God, would you feel a reluctance to worship him?
Considering how fanatically certain Christians adhere to their own particular theological views, it’s easy to imagine such a scenario actually playing out. After all, Servetus, a Protestant Theologian, was burned at the stake over a slow fire because he was not a Trinitarian and many so-called holy wars were fought between Catholics and Protestants over such issues.
Me personally? it would not make any difference. I would accept God either as a Trinity or as a none trinity although I tend to think that he is not a Trinity. Why? Well, simple , because salvation doesn't depend on theological belief of God's nature, but on having faith in the saving power of Christ's Ransom sacrifice. Since Christ’s Ransom Sacrifice applies either way, then I am OK. I would just strive to understand why I misunderstood and adjust my belief accordingly.
Romans 10:9-10
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son so that anyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16)
