The Difficulty of Getting to Mercury
The planet Mercury orbits the Sun at approx. 36 million miles compared to Earth's approx. 96 million. That means that in order to reach it, we must travel in the sun's direction and having to deal with its increased gravitational pull and its heat. This requires shielding the craft from any heat damage and a greater effort at deceleration than would be needed if we were to be travelling away from it. The video goes into detail about both these crucial factors.
