Rejection of an Idiocy or the Rejection of Science?
Very often when discussing abiogenesis with atheists, they will accuse the theist of rejecting science and the scientific method. Nothing could be farther from the truth. When theists reject abiogenesis, what they are rejecting is a claim that has absolutely no basis in observation nor experimentation which is the heart of science. When theists reject abiogenesis, or the spontaneous arising of life from nonliving matter, or water, theists are rejecting what can be legitimately be classified as an idiocy camouflaged as science.
Now, why is abiogenesis concept idiocy and not science you might ask. Very simple. For the concept of abiogenesis to qualify as science, it would need to be based on the scientific method which consists of observation and experimentation in order to confirm the conclusions being reached. But there is exactly where the problem lies, you see, despite the constant and effusive claims of absolute certainty with which abiogenesis is constantly being expounded, there is absolutely no observational support for the concept exists because abiogenesis has never been observed to happen in nature. Neither can they offer evidence that it happens under controlled conditions in a laboratory. Why? Because despite their frenetic efforts, they cannot force it to happen in a laboratory either.
This means that their constant reference to it as an indisputable fact, is merely fantasy based on desperation, and such conclusions, based on mere desperation, or wishful thinking, are called fallacies, and are therefore idiocies by default. They are the shadows mentioned in Plato's illustration of The Cave, mere opinions without any real substance because they have no basis in reality but are merely figments of desperate, prejudiced and fanatical imaginations. In this case, imaginations motivated by anti religious bias.
But there is another reason why claiming that abiogenesis is a fact is indeed an idiocy of the highest caliber. Because it totally contradicts logic. In fact, it verges on insanity? In what way?
Well, Simple! Because it treats mindless water like some magical potion that spontaneously produces specific goal-oriented information and then proceeds to meticulously code it into DNA. Bit not just any trivial simple information, but information necessary for the assembling of an eye, a brain, a heart, a skeletal system, a nervous system, a nucleus for each cells. Because it claims that water also magically produces an essential RNA molecule designed to read and understand that detailed DNA data and programmed to attempt carrying out its instructions. It also glibly claims that mindless water also provides the molecular machines necessary carry out those instructions after they receive the details from the RNA. If indeed that is not insanity, than nothing is.
After all, since when does water have the ability of a genius planning mind? Since never! Water is just mindless water and incapable of coding information or assembling DNA. The frantic efforts to imbue water with such magical properties has failed in the laboratory. So claiming certainty that water possesses such abilities is blatant quackery and has absolutely nothing to do with science.
Now, please keep in mind that the ones making that claim are not simpleminded people. They are all highly educated scientists not expected to be irrational. Yet, when discussing the emergence of life they prefer to be. Why is the question. The simple answer is because of Theophobia, a pathological aversion to everything religious that supports the concept of intelligent design and the irrational need to ignore all evidence that supports it-even if it includes being irrational
Could water come up with the process described below? Really? How the hell?
In each human cell, there is a structure called the nucleus.
The nucleus contains the genome.
In humans, the genome is split between 23 pairs of chromosomes.
Each chromosome contains a long strand of DNA tightly packaged around proteins called histones.
Within the DNA are sections called genes.
These genes contain the instructions for making proteins.
When a gene is switched on, an enzyme called RNA polymerase attaches to the start of the gene.
It moves along the DNA making a strand of messenger RNA.
This process is called transcription.
The DNA code determines the order in which info is added to the messenger RNA.
Before the messenger RNA can be used as a template for the making of proteins.
it needs to be processed.
This involves removal and adding sections of RNA.
The messenger RNA then moves out of the nucleus into the cytoplasm.
Protein factories in the cytoplasm, called ribosomes, bind to the messenger RNA.
The Ribosome reads the code in the messenger RNA to produce a chain made of amino acids.
There are twenty different types of amino acids.
Transfer RNA molecules carry the amino acids to the ribosome.
The messenger RNA is read three bases at a time. As each triplet is read, a transfer RNA delivers the corresponding amino acid.
This is added to a growing chain of amino acids.
Once the last amino acid has been added, the chain folds into a complex 3D shape, to form the protein.
Strange! Viewing life as if it were a simple blob of protoplasm that could easily appear from water as was once believed during Darwin's day, when the existence of DNA and RNA and molecular machines necessary to carry out the coded information in DNA, was totally unknown, should be considered unscientific.
Why? Simple. Because the processes involved in in the coding of information into DNA and the need for the cooperation of molecular machines in order to carry out the DNA instructions, demands that we arrive at the the conclusion of a planning mind as we would if such evidence were discovered anywhere else.
Furthermore, the scientific method requires observation and experimental evidence to support a conclusion. But the concept of abiogenesis has neither. It cannot be observed occurring in nature, nor can it be forced to happen in a laboratory.
So treating abiogenesis as a fact is merely wishful thinking. Nothing more.
