Joan of Arc
This historical film illustrates how people can be fanatically misled into believing themselves on some sacred mission from God, while disregarding everything that Jesus taught about being righteous. Clearly, Jesus dnever told his disciples to engage in violence. Instead, told them to seek peace and not retaliate by unflicting evil for evil.
Jesus also taught them to have faith in the prophetically promised Kingdom of God which would fulfill the prophecies by setting things right on Earth. So Joan was either ignorant of this, or else misled by false interpretations. In fact, the film focuses on Joan being misled by either some malignant force, or else, by some psychological anomaly.
Such possibilities are repeatedly suggested to her in visions during and after her bloody campaigns. Also, after she is finally arrested and imprisoned she is depicted as being visted by some supernatural entity that strivs to tell herthat she had been wrong. Or perhaps the entity, played by Dustin Hoffman, was meant to be representations her own her inner doubts as she is shown wavering in her convictions. Ultimaely. all the warnings are ignred opportunities for a compromise are rejected, and she goes t her agonizingly painful death still believing herself God's chosen.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
