Why do Devilish people Go To Church?
Ever notice that there are regular church members who never miss a meeting and yet are the complete opposite of what a Christian is supposed to be? They cheat, they lie, they gossip constantly, they cast doubt on Bible prophecy, they envy, insult, mock. steal, are cruel, abuse children, are materialistic, alcholic, use foul language at home, practice cruelty to animals, are fanatically racist, etcetera.
At first this might prove extremely baffling to those who attend church in an effort to get closer to God by becoming more Christlike. After all, the behavior these folks display is more typical of people who go to a bar, a boxing match, a football game, a dance, a gambling casino, an acid rock concert, or perhaps a satanic coven. Yet there they are in church. Makes you wonder about the motive doesn't it?
The answer to this seeming paradox is very simple. You see, human beings have a variety of needs and these needs can be satisfied in a church just as they can be satisfied anywhere else. Here is a list of needs that a churchgoer might be seeking to satisfy via church attendance.
1. Seeking to belong to a group to avoid loneliness
2. Seeking a marriage mate
3. Seeking friendships
4. Seeking business connections
5. Seeking admiration via chuirch positions such as elder, deacon, etc
6. Seeking things to gossip about.
8. Seeking a good conscience via confession ad forgiveness in order to keep sinning.
9. Seeking a church to become a minister to live off tithes.
10. Seeking to get close in order to commit adultery
11. Seeking personal data in order to rob.
12. Seeking child victims
So yes, these folks are regulary there. Never miss a meeting. But unfortunately, that really guarantees nothing. But this should not surprize us since Jesus himself warned us that this would happen.
Matthew 7:21 NIV
"Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
