Beware of Religions that constantly Change Doctrines
All of us are familiar with the saying of "Better safe than sorry!" Well, in a religious decision case, it is a really a matter of better being safe than bitterly regretful. After all, a religious decision can tranform a person's whole life either for the better or worse. So To avoid bitter dissapointmet after losing prescious years, it is wise to first look before you leap before joining any religion by checking its theological record to see if it is in the habit of changing theological doctrines from one administration to another or not. Why? Because if it is, then you are in for a lot of sudden, totally unexpected, jarring shifts in what is true and false and what is right and wrong and those changes can weaken faith.
For example, One moment you might be avoiding a behavior deemed sinful, and the next it is declared OK because of a new understanding or new light. But don't get to smugly dogmatic with this new light as you did before with the old light. Why? Well, because another shift in organization might bring the original idea right back into vogue and once again, like a puppet, you are required to abide by what is glibly called new light. In the meantime, sincere members who tried to abide by the previous light might have lost their lives or made their short existence on this earth a living nightmare by struggling to live in the way was instructed.
For example, a young person might have avoided college education and can’t earn a decent living. That might force him to postpone marriage until things get better. But things get worse and soon he might find himself on the verge of middle age with his marriage options whittled down to a few persons he doesn’t find physically attractive. All because it was a sin to go to college and get an education and much better to preach because the end was near. Then suddenly, to add uinsult to injury, new light reveals that it s now suddenly OK to go to college after all. Heh! Heh!
. Another member might have lost a relative in order to abide by religious medical rules that tag certain procedures as sinful. So the member prefers to let his son, daughter or parent die because using the medical procdeyure to save his life is a sin. The bitter part of all this is that after the sacrifices are made and lives are ruined, the new people in the administration, who claim to be receiving their knowledge from God, change everything again and you are not even offerwed an aplogy for damages suffered.
So if indeed one is to join any religious organization, it is best to research its history and not just trustingly listen to what a current member is saying. True, that member might be sincere, but he might also be ignorant of the organization’s penchant for changing truth as often as they change their socks and might be as shocked as you are if shown the evidence.
