All Puerto Ricans don't share the same ancestry.
This is a misconception that I keep encountering on the Internet YouTube discussion venues, which is propagated by persons who claim to be Puerto Ricans themselves, but who don't know the island's history, don't speak Spanish. can't read it, can barely understand it. Neither do they take the time or make the effort to verify the factualness of their claims. So this is my response to those persons
Black or African American alone = 11.3%
That's one-hundred thirteen Puerto Ricans per thousand who are Black or African American alone on the island. That is far more numerous than the number of non- Latino white Puerto Ricans described below. -
White alone, not Hispanic or Latino, Puerto Ricans = 1.0 percent
That's ten out of every one thousand Puerto Ricans on the island who are non Hispanic white Puerto Ricans.
Asian Puerto Ricans are Puerto Ricans who trace their ancestry to the continent of Asia, mostly from China, India, and especially Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
As of 2010, people of Asian descent are a small minority in Puerto Rico that constitutes 0.2% of the population.
So as you can see, the claim that all Puerto Ricans share the same ancestry is patently false. Puerto Rico, like most other Nationalities, includes a variety of people who immigrated and became citizens or else were native born as the statistical data clearly shows..
