Puerto Rican Right to Self-Identification
Ever ask yourself why Anglo and Afro Americans are so obsessed with how Puerto Ricans classify themselves racially? You constantly see them on youtube making videos dedicated to delving into the reasons why Puerto Ricans choose to identify as we do, and making demands on how we really should view ourselves as a people. Strange!
Ever wonder why they don't focus or concentrate instead on just how mixed they themselves are, and how very much they insist on ignoring and denying that very well-known racial admixture resulting from slavery and from trying to pass as white and merging into the white population ?
After all, African Americans, who are demanding that Puerto Ricans view themselves as told to, are in full denial of their North European admixture while approx. 75 MILLION USA Anglo Americans are mixed with black and yet register as being lily white on the USA census. Yet, it doesn't it bother them? Not one bit, does it? It only bothers them whenever any Latino does the same-right?
The simple truth is that Puerto Ricans owe nobody any explanation on how they choose to view themselves, just as African Americans and their sidekicks, the mixed Anglos, don't. In short, how we Puerto Ricans choose to view ourselves racially, either collectively or on an individual basis, is totally our business and everyone else should keep their noses in their own sordid affairs. After all, if we don't give a rat's fat ass how they hypocritically go around viewing themselves, then why should they be so obsessively concerned with us?
