Do New Yoricans Represent Puerto Rico?
I have noticed that New Yoricans, persons of usually partial Puerto Rican descent, are always striving to talk on behalf of all Puerto Ricans when they are interviewed. Now, that would be totally OK, except for one very crucial factor, such individuals are totally unqualified because they have been culturally colonized and are very eager please their cultural colonizers-African Americans. How so? Well, when conversing with such New Yoricans, you will immediately notice that they have totally and fanatically adopted the African American culture as their own and are now virtually indistinguishable from African Americans in two very significant ways.
They behave like African Americans do.
They strongly resemble African Americans physically as well.
Of course this is due to the very frequent intermixing that has taken place between Stateside Puerto Ricans in the NEW York area and African Americans. You see, the offspring of such unions almost invariably choose the African American side of their lineage, and only once in a while deign to speak as if they felt Puerto Rican in order to be included in some video where they act as if they were experts on Puerto Rican culture.
Experts? Not by a long shot! The truth is, that these persons cannot read or write Spanish, are barely fluent in it and can barely understand very simple rudimentary expressions. Also, they have almost always never visited the island and when they have, they have felt like fish out of water culturally and can't wait to go back home. They are viewed by Island Puerto Ricans as some kind of social anomaly completely alien to Island culture. They are laughed at due to their inability to speak Spanish properly, and because of their obviously purposeful and constant exaggerated imitation of Afro American histrionic behavior.
In view of this, the question emerges: Why then do they represent themselves as qualified to speak on behalf of island Puerto Ricans and the rest of Puerto Ricans comprising the Puerto Rican Diaspora who share absolutely nothing in common with them? Well, one compelling thing is the urgent need to please their African American families and friends.
In order to do so, they will regurgitate whatever it takes to please their African American heroes and role models, so they can bask in the glorious limelight of African American attention. So in order to be granted this privilege, they will agree with every single misguided idea about Puerto Ricans regardless of how ridiculous it might be. For example, they will vehemently and vociferously claim that all Puerto Ricans are black, despite knowing that it is a blatant lie. They will deny any other immigration into Puerto Rico from other European countries, such as Germany, France and Ireland, despite being provided with the documentation that proves it.
In this way, they tend to lend a veneer of legitimacy to all the BS that Anglo Americans and Afro Americans propagate concerning Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans. Since spreading BS about Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans is the prime directive of such interviewers, New Yoricans are considered as being perfect for the job since they will very dutifully and enthusiastically help to spread such blatant misinformation. Whether it be because of malice or sheer ignorance, the effect is the same the perpetuation of a misperception of a nationality of USA citizens who should not be misrepresented in that way. .
