Not all Latinos speak Spanish in the same way just as not all Britons nor Americans speak English in the same manner. After all, we have Cockney English, Irish, Scottish, Scottish accents, NY accents, Western accents in the USA as well as Ebonics.
Same with Spanish, although we can all understand one another, there is still is great variety, in pronunciations and in words. One reason is that Spanish spoken in Spain varies and immigrants to the New World came fro different regions such as Castile. AndalucĂa, the Canary Islands, Galicia etc.
Also, we have also had different influences from different groups of immigrants. For example, in Argentina the Italian immigration has profoundly affected words and pronunciations. Also, the indigenous tribes differed greatly from region to region and hat caused the Spanish spoken in the diverse regions to differ. In the Andes region we have the Incas, and other diverse tribes. In the Caribbean we had the Taino influence.
In Mexico and the central American region we had the Aztecs and the Mayas. Puerto Rican Spanish is no different since its Spanish influence came primarily from AndalucĂa and from the Canary islands. These Spanish regions dispense the pronunciation of the (s) at the end of words, Canarian Islanders tend to replace the letter R with the letter L, and Andalucians replace certain endings suffix ( os,) and (do,) with the (au) suffix- pronounced as ow.
Examples:
enfadado - enfadau
enredado- enredau
Canary Islanders tend to replace certain R with an l
Examples:
Puerto Rico - Puelto Rico
Sordo - Soldo
Surdo - Suldo
Sentir - Setntil
Oir - Oil
Ir - Il
Latir - Latil

Puerto Rican Spanish comes from the Canary Islands
Canarian Spanish (from Spain's Canary Islands) made the major contribution to Puerto Rican Spanish, and can be considered the basis of the dialect and accent. Many Canarians came in hopes of establishing a better life in the Americas. Most Puerto Rican immigration in the early 19th century included people from the Canary Islands, who, like Puerto Ricans, had inherited most of their linguistic traits from Andalusia.
