The Langoliers
I would classify this more under fantasy than sci-fi. Of course, like many other films which deal with the nature of reality, it poses inevitable questions to the authors of this idea. Where did the Langoliers come from? They emerged at the Big Bang magically? If indeed they were created, then wasn't there a more efficient way to deal with the task. Why do things remain intact except for people? Is this going on all over the universe, or just on Earth which is a microscopic part of the cosmos? Such issues are ignored, of course, giving the impression of a geocentric universe where only Earth counts? Because of this, the film is not sci fie. So what this film proposes doesn't have any theoretical scientific foundation at all. It is just a wacky idea that is used to serve as the nucleus of a story. Of course the drama is intense, and the acting is superb. So seeing it is entertaining.
