Some Characteristics of Crap Movies
No one purposefully pays money to see a crap movie but many of us are duped into it by the false advertisement in the previews. Then as we start to watch, we suddenly realize that we have fallen for the cunningly arranged and mesmerizingly contrived preview-hype again. The following are the characteristics that reveal we have made a mistake.
Lack of Drama
One characteristic is the total lack of a serious lack of drama. Drama is created when there is conflict such as man against nature, against other me, against himself, against animals against aliens, etc. It involves imminent danger against which there is resistance. It is supposed to keep you wondering what will happen next. How will the protagonist escape? In contrast, a crappy movie will involve long stretches of dialogue where virtually northing happens ad in which all is going well. In short, it wallows. Like an elephant or a hippo sitting on a log doing nothing but manicuring its nails, while you-who paid to see something happen almost begin to fall asleep.
Bad Acting
Another is bad acting or no acting at all. You see, some of the actors in those crap movies don't even seem to know that when in danger, humans are supposed to show facial expressions of fear. They move about the scene in which death can arrive at any moment at the hands or claws of some alien mechanical contraption or some hideous being as if they were strolling through a museum calmly taking interest in the latest exhibits. Their breathing is normal, and their hairdo impeccably in place. They also don't seem to realize that when running for your life you do not choose to jog calmly and slowly away. with nary a care in the world.
Obvious Feminist Agenda
Then there is the obvious feminist agenda displays have women looking brave while men look wimpish and in fear. Now don't get me wrong, at first this was innovative. But it has been repeated so often that it is no longer an interesting innovation. Now it just looks like a way to make a fanatical feminist statement and is becoming tiresome. Just recently I watched one where the female cop was shown calmly facing an alien invasion while looking on the verge of yawning. In contrast, all the males around her were literally shitting their pants in fear.
Unrealistic Reckless Behavior
They also, want us to sometimes believe that police officers enter extremely dangerous situations without first calling for backup. That is a major distraction because it destroys our willingness to set aside our skepticism in order to enjoy the movie. Sends the message of
"Ï don't think you are smart enough to notice so here goes!"
To avoid all this, it's best to read the reviews at Rotten Tomatoes or elsewhere in order to see what others say about the film.
