European Descended Latinos Seeking Privileges?
First, please note that most Latinos of European descent don't emigrate. They stay in their own countries since they are the ones who are of the upper and middle classes and don't need to travel to the USA in order to enjoy life. That the few Latinos of European or predominantly European descent who do immigrate to the USA are treated more nicely than Afro, Mestizo, East Asian, Native American, or Black Latino immigrants is not under their control. It is simply a USA cultural predisposition to react that way. Nothing more.
I focus on this because I am constantly encountering a lot of griping from nonwhite Americans about how European-descended or predominantly European-descended Latinos in the United States enjoy certain preferential treatment or privileges within USA Society because they are considered white.
Of course those Americans who are not of European descent who notice this, such as Asiatic, or African Americans, feel annoyed. That is perfectly understandable. No one likes to feel discriminated against. However, what is not understandable is to blame it on the Latinos themselves instead of on the USA culture that fosters such an attitude and is the real cause of the problem.
So no, Latinos of European lineage who immigrate to the USA are not seeking any privileges based on their race just as Anglo Americans are not seeking any privileges. However, expecting these Latinos to be extremely annoyed at people treating them nicely or expecting them to totally reject their historical and racial heritage in order to appease irate Americans who seem to demand it, is indeed irrational.
Also irrational is to automatically assume that race is involved whenever they are being treated decently is rather irrational. After all, people can be nice to others based on a variety of reasons besides race. For example, there is a personality affinity. Similarity religious affiliation. Heterosexual or homosexual physical attraction. A foreign or regional accent that they might find charming or amusing. Resemblance yo some beloved family members such as a brother-sister father or mother. All these might be the cause. However, if indeed race is involved then blaming the Latino white person for bein treated special is not the solution. The solution is to modify USA society so that cultural racism is not as predominant.
