Animal lover and dangerous Wild Animal tragedy
This incident has always bothered me because it was totally unnecessary. Wild animals don't belong in people's homes-and that should be obvious. They are definitely not substitutes for inimate human companionship as this owner obviously believed. They can go feral at any moment and severy mangle or kill the owner or anyone within reach. The evidence is abundant and the owner and the victim were not ignorant of it.
There is also the manner in which the owner supposedly strove to help her helpless friend. True, the knife-wounds that she inflicted on her beloved chimp were described as deep, but they were obviously not deep enough nor delivered in an area that would have instantly killed hum, such as at the chest. She also sqaid that she had felt very sorry for her chimp when he looked at her as if asking why she was the stabbing him. That's when she left distraught over the chimp's facial expressions and started calling the police while her friend was being eaten alive. She also claimed she had been attacked but absolutely no injuries indicating any attack were evident. That part is extremely disgusting.
Then there is the sheer stupidity of approaching an enraged or disoriented or misbehaving chimp with a toy. Even professional animal handlers arm themselves with tranquilizers and shoot from a distance when confronting these violent-prone beasts. In any case, here is the video that goes into the details of this tragedy.
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
