Mars Mission Update June 2020
After a fifty-year hiatus of relative disinterest and disappointment for those of us who had assumed we would witness the marvels depicted in the 2001 Space Oddysee film, it is good to know that we are once more interested in direct human space exploration as opposed to merely sending machines. It's also good to see the private sector and NASA cooperating in getting things done.
At least the effort is no longer dependent on the priorities set by our Federal Government which seems obsessed with the allotment of the lion's share of our yearly budget to the military. Still, the 2002 date is being pushed further ahead to maybe 2008. But better care than to be sorry due to some disaster caused by unnecessary haste. In any case, here is the latest on the efforts being put forth the establishment of a permanent human presence both on our Moon and on Mars.
