The Tao of the Fool
Fools are spoken about frequently in the Bible and for good reason.
1. To warn us against ever adopting their mentality.
2. To help us identify such persons by their behavior.
One very prominent behavior of a fool is the inability to learn from negative experiences. They appear to be totally unaffected by their failures and stubbornly plow ahead in the same direction regardless of the psychological or physical pain they suffer.
The Bible describes it in the following way:
Though you pound a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with crushed grain, Yet his folly will not depart from him (27:22).
They seem to ignore the Biblical warning stated below:
Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.
One reason for this attitude is that some fools don’t believe in a creator.
Psalm 14:1 The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds; there is none who does good.
So such types of fools can’t really take the biblical warnings seriously because they consider such warnings merely the writings of men. In short, they feel that the Biblical admonitions can’t be backed up.
So as they experience one disaster after the other, they see it all as being mere chance. Even the death of a spouse, a multitude of divorces or other such tragedies will leave the fool unscathed.
Unfortunately many reach old age it that condition and never make a connection between their foolishness and Karma.
