The Perplexing Tao of the Socially- Inhibited Female
It is not a great mystery that men and women view reality differently regardless of sharing the same culture. Hormones and physiological differences are the cause. For example, children from a female perspective, are inextricably related to the pregnancy of nine months and a painful birthing process, while all we men did was plant the seed. This creates a sense of ownership of the children which men cannot relate to in the same manner. So regardless of socialization, such things remain essential differences between men and women.
However, socialization is still a very powerful force in determining behavior by establishing certain expectations from each gender. For example, in most societies, males are expected to be aggressive and females are expected to be passive. Males are encouraged to be loud and boisterous but females must remain timid and quiet. Males might be expected to be violently inclined. It adds to their manliness. Females are expected to be peaceful. Such expectations place limits on how females behave toward a male and what they find attractive. These limits can cause frustration as females struggle to remain within the acceptable behavioral parameters while a male might not seem to notice that she even exists.
If the female panics and assumes the aggressive role, then she is viewed negatively. In turn, this forces the human female to reveal feelings in roundabout ways. Of course, the male, who is usually unfamiliar with the female’s predicament-might or might not understand her antics as hints that she likes him. Or else, he might simply not be interested in the female who is providing subtle signals. This serves to confuse the female further and might goad her to the intensification of her roundabout tactics.
The frustrated female might panic and feel forced to being annoying in order to get some kind of response. Insults, malicious defamatory gossip, and other rude behavior is often employed in hopes of posing the male with a challenge that might motivate action. Unfortunately, the annoyed and totally baffled male who might be unaware of the female predicament might simply conclude that the female is a and start avoiding her like the Bubonic Plague in order to remain at peace.
I guess that’s where the platitude of “Hell knows no fury like a woman scorned!” might have come from.
I guess that’s where the platitude of “Hell knows no fury like a woman scorned!” might have come from.
BTW
One thing that human females should keep in mind, is that we males are prone to be totally oblivious concerning the frustration that females feel in being expected to remain passively waiting for the male to take the lead. You see, we live in a totally different reality. So misinterpretation will usually occur and instead of achieving its goal, the female antics might provoke the opposite-make the male head for the hills in order to avoid any further trouble.
On the other hand, the male might know that the female is seeking his interest, but since the attraction isn't mutual, he might ignore the whole display. Both motives are possible and should be considered.
