Radrook on the Value of Common Ancestry
One's ancestry is interesting and nice to know. But judging by how people of the same heritage and ethnicity or even race treat one another it cant be depended on to assure decent treatment. History proves this. For example, did Vlad the Impaler care about ethnicity of his victims when he inflicted his horrible punishments? Did Shaka care about common race when he attacked the black villages in Southern Africa? Was Genghis Khan concerned about common race or ethnicity as he spread terror during his bloody military campaigns? Did the fanatical religiously inclined Spaniards care about common race or ethnicity when they went about in their inquisition where confessions were extracted via torture and people were burned alive at the stake?
Recent history also provides poignant examples. Right now, right here in the USA there are people in government who are of the same race as those in dire need of better medical care but who really don't give a damn whether these people of their same race live or die, as long as they themselves remain wealthy.
In contrast, there are different races who do feel compassion and are moved to provide help. The naked truth is that those who are wealthy usually worry only about themselves and if the downtrodden die because you don''t have the money to cover medical expenses, -then well, heh heh, you died, but you sure as hell are not going to use any of their tax money in order to get medical help.
The same applies criminals. A profession thief doesn't care whether you are of his race or not when planning to steal from you. A rapist doesn't care about heritage or race when faced with an opportunity to rape. Neither do most serial killers. So yes! Very interesting to know about ancestry but as far as being some type of guarantee-in the vast majority of cases it simply means nothing.
