Double standards for Martian Lifeforms and Earth's
Astronomers who plan the Mars mission with a view to colonization express concern about human activity there accidentally causing the extinction of some microbial Martian life. Admirable isn't it? One would expect such caring creatures to have the same concern for their home world-now wouldn't we? After all, how can there be more concern about a world which we have never set foot on-which looks like a veritable devastation, and not have equal or more concern for out home world which is lush with life? Yet, ironically, that is exactly the impression one gets from this paradoxical behavior.
Yet, here on Earth, we humans are responsible for the extinction of not just one animal form or species, but for hundreds. Not just in the far distant past when we were totally unaware of the devastating impact which human activity could have on Earth's biosphere, but in the recent past and in the present as well when we are fully aware of the consequences of our activities. Ironically, it is an ongoing process that is calmly accepted as inevitable and doesn't cause the intense concern which one would expect from creatures who worry so much about harming life on another world.
Current Extinction Rate 10 Times Worse Than Previously Thought
