The Tao of Robotic Word-Repetition Culture
Please forgive me for find it strange but during most of my life living in the USDA I only recently have noticed that the constant repetition of words and phrases automatically occures duruing heated arguments among some Americans. Notice that the triple and quadruple repetition of words and phrases has become a traditional USA cultural habit.
I was baffled at first as to why this happens.
Lack of a proper vocabulary to say anything else?
Automatic shutdown of reasoning ability due to rage?
Repetition for emphasis in order to make sure one is understood?
After meticulously pondering all these alternatives I finally reached the conclusion that the only reason for the monotonous robotic repetition it for intimidation purposes only. You see, most normal persons don't like to deal with crazy people. You never know what a crazy person might suddenly decide to do during an argument or a fight. So looking crazy is a way to intimidate. A person who repeats things over and over appears out of control and fixated. Seems to be driven by instinct and we all know how unreasonablly violent an animal driven by sheer instinct can be.
So the effect is intended to be:
"If this person is so unbalanced as to repeat things that way, then she or he must be very dangerous. So I best back away!" 2:35
BTW
I thought the guy in the video was saying "This is Benito's! This is Benito's! This is Benito's!" I was like! Who the hell is Benito and what is his? LOL! That was six repetitions of "This is Benitos!"
In other words "See! I am just as crazy as you! So you better watch out!"
