Why the Rude Interview?
The interview is considered to be rude primarily because the interviewer asked why Cortez, a woman of color, should be supporting an old white man-Bernie Sanders. But IMHO there are other reasons why the interviewer might feel hostile. Below I enumerate them.
She might be struggling with deep emotions which are prodding her to attack and is doing her best not to do so in an angered tone of voice.
The first thing that is might be annoying her is that Cortez might not be identifying herself as black and that Bernie might not be considering her as black. Thus her reference or reminder that Cortez should consider herself as a woman of color.
The second thing is that a Puerto Rican, whom she might be considering a foreigner, be sitting next to a white man as if she belongs there when that position should go to an Anglo or an African American. She might feel that Cortez is benefiting from the Afro American Civil Rights movement which she and her kind do not deserve.
The third might be she considers them both pro illegal-immigration, and she doesn't want any more Latinos entering her country because it reduces the share of the fiscal budget that should go to African Americans.
Finally, there might be the tendency to see all white people as devils based on all the cruelty which Anglo Americans showered on her slave ancestors.
So considering all the internal turmoil, which I suspected as soon as she started talking due to her tense body language-she did pretty well. IMHO
