Did Jesus Whip People in the Temple?
James 3:17, ESV But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.
Did Jesus, the wisest man who ever lived, actually whip People in the Temple? Well, it is very popular for people who wish to be violent when angered to describe Jesus as actually striking people with a whip based on the following scripture:
Matthew 21:12-17
12 Jesus went into the temple courtyard and threw out everyone who was buying and selling there. He overturned the moneychangers’ tables and the chairs of those who sold pigeons. 13 He told them, “Scripture says, ‘My house will be called a house of prayer,’ but you’re turning it into a gathering place for thieves!”

But is this actually so? Did Jesus actually plow into those people with that whip? Well, the scripture doesn't say that he did. He is only described as overturning the tables and driving everyone out. So imagining that he was angrily whipping the people with the whip is merely an assumption.
Moreover, and very significantly, had Jesus actually attacked people, his enemies would have immediately pointed that out since they were constantly searching for flaws in his behavior in order to disqualify him from being the foretold Messiah who is prophetically described as a Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6, ESV For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Matthew 5:9, Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God

So had Jesus gone contrary to this biblical Messianic prophecy, and his own words by savagely whipping people, his enemies would have immediately pounced on that discrepancy.
