Despicably Using Religion as Camouflage for Crime
During war, deception via camouflage is a very popular tactic. Snipers do so by blending into their surroundings and being visually undetectable as they calmly proceed to kill the enemy.
Intentions of an impending invasion are camouflaged by setting up fake tanks and other machines feigning to attack a certain location while intending to attack another. This was done by the Americans and British prior to the D Day invasion of Europe.
A very effective stratagem. Unfortunately, this tactic is not limited to war between nations. No siree Bob! You see, people intending to commit crimes, such as theft, will also do anything within their power to conceal their intentions, and avoid being even remotely suspected capable of it.
For example, one popular way of using camouflage is to feign religiosity. Thieves will go about piously pontificating as religiously devoted persons who are sincerely and totally dedicated in following Christ's footsteps. They will go about constantly and fervently recommending that others follow their example. They will piously pontificate about how much peace they have attained via their religious devotion, and how grateful they are for God having illuminated them and rescuing them from a sinful life.
Then suddenly, when they deem the time is just right, and the opportunity presents itself, they will attempt to rob the trustful person blind, or attempt to have sex with the person's spouse, or might even attempt to molest the trustful person's child. There is actually no limit to the evil they might attempt after they feel that they have gained a person's trust via their elaborately construed camouflage cunningly assumed to render the intended victim vulnerable.
Yes, very true, hypocrisy is indeed feigned in many other ways as well. For example, medical doctors might feign to do good while intending to do harm. Police officers might feign to be enforcing the law, while being racists. Lawyers might feign genuine concern in the carrying out of justice, when they only care about the client's fee.
All such hypocrisy is offensive to a normal person's sense of justice. However, disrespectfully bringing God and his Son Jesus Christ our Savior into facilitating evil behavior, as certain churchgoers are fond of doing, is an extremely debased manner to go about it. It also is a direct attack on God himself since his message to mankind is being misrepresented and will stumble others into rejecting it. Of such people Jesus said the following.

Luke 17:2
1. Jesus said to His disciples, “It is inevitable that stumbling blocks will come, but woe to the one through whom they come! 2. It would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these little ones to stumble
