Doctrinal Issues Related to AI
Now, please note that soul, refers to the supposed invisible entity humans are supposed to really be, and which is supposedly encased in human bodies until the moment of death when it is finally freed and goes to its eternal destiny.
Well, if indeed such a machine acquires a soul, in this particular sense, then from a religious viewpoint, the one providing it with a soul has to be God himself, since humans have absolutely no ability to first create, and then to infuse such a soul into a machine. In essence, it boils down to whether God decides to, provide them with something that fits this description of what a soul is supposed to be.
Can AI be possessed by Evil Spirits?
There are three very important questions that religious people have in reference to artificially intelligent machines, whether they be in the form of computers, robots, or androids. They are questions which atheists never ask.
The questions are the following:
1. Can AI have a soul?
2. Can AI be made in the image of God?
3. Can AI be possessed by Evil Spirits?

Does AI have a soul?

2. Has AI been made in the image of God?
Well, there are two religious viewpoints in relation the what the Image of God constitutes. One viewpoint involves the actual physical appearance of humanity. Those holding this view imagine our Creators as a glorified male humanoid. Because of this, the visualize Adam and Eve as having been far more physically glorious than fallen mankind currently is. Since AI is obviously not made in such a manner, then it is not in God's image from this religious perspective.
But there is yet another opinion about what the image of God really means which seems to make that possible. You see, some religionists, such as Jehovah's Witnesses, believe that the image of God was, and still is, mankind's ability to express love, justice, wisdom and power. Now, from that intellectual standpoint, it becomes far more difficult to determine the answer.
It all really depends on whether AI is really conscious, and whether or not the attribution of consciousness, can only be conferred by God himself. Or whether the image of God must involve both physical and intellectual aspects.

This last one one is the most problematic, since if it is true, then the dangers involved in reference to these machines are greatly magnified. Well, like everything else on this Earth temporarily under partial Satanic influence, such machines might indeed become tools in the hands the enemies of God and mankind. Of course, it all depends on whether God himself allows it and to what degree he chooses to have disobedient mankind to reap what it is sowing in this respect.
So if indeed evil spirits are allowed to tamper with our AI machines, it will have to be under strict limits since the biblical prophecies clearly foretell that the universe will once more be completely under God's rule, and that Satan and his demons will ultimately be destroyed.
