Our Potentially Deadly Sun
The sun, this star that we orbit at a distance of approx. 93 million miles, a distance referred to as an astronomical unit, seems rather benign, doesn't it? After all, it provides life-sustaining warmth and is essential to making plant photosynthesis which sustains the foundation of our food-chain.
Yet, unfortunately, there are certain critical times during which the sun can become extremely dangerous despite the protection afforded us by Earth's atmosphere and its magnetic field, both which act like shields against its potentially deadly solar wind.
The video below delves on these dangers, and how they pose a special threat to our technologically-dependent society, and how mankind can prepare itself for such a potentially devastating event .
