When Hindu Red Dot on Forehead Becomes Hypocritical
In Hinduism, the colour red represents honour, love, and prosperity, hence it was worn to symbolise these aspects.
In meditation, the point between the eyebrows (Bhrumadhya) is where one focuses one's sight, to help concentration. Most images of Hindu, Jain or Buddhist divinities in meditative poses with their eyes nearly closed show the gaze focused between the eyebrows (another spot being the tip of the nose—naasikagra)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bindi_(decoration) Now, why do I take an interest in this red dot? Well, because the owner of this Indian grocery store gasoline station combo establishment, just recently appeared behind the counter posing proudly with the red dot on his forehead.
Well, since this individual has been obsessively looking for trouble for the last six months via insults, simply because I didn't buy gallons of Tea that I could not drink due to health problems, and a volume that I did not order, I find it strange that this veritable troublemaking individual could simultaneously be feeling suddenly spiritual. [Yes, that is the explanation he provided when asked, that he was being spiritual.]
Otherwise, I would not have given it a second's thought, since I tend to mind my own business. "Live and let live!" as they say. But if a person behaves like a veritable demon possessed person over trivia, and then suddenly presents himself publically as if he were spiritually-minded by wearing this red dot on his hypocritical forehead, then of course my curiosity will be stirred.
Well, after reading the definition and listening to the video, I honestly do not see how this fanatical and obsessively belligerent individual, who has been hell-bent on fomenting trouble for the last six months over such trivia, can be genuinely interested in anything that this red dot is described as spiritually representing.
Instead, I can't avoid perceiving his ostentatious display as merely his selfish self-centered effort to make himself temporarily the center of attention. In short, the only one whom he is fooling with that red dot on his hypocritical forehead is himself
