Are Public Schools In the USA Similar to Insane Asylums?
After viewing hundreds of videos of school fights on YouTube and on Twitter, I began to perceive those schools as being similar to those old-time insane asylums.
After all, people in those insane asylums were there because of being unable to control their emotions and for posing either a danger to themselves, or else some danger to others, which are the identical behavioral symptoms which I noticed that public school students were constantly displaying.
So for a long while, the comparison seemed to fit. But then I suddenly realized that the comparison between the twain is actually invalid because of very crucial differences. You see, patients in those insane asylums were not free to wreak pandemonium. Instead they were very carefully kept under control via sedating medication and the strict supervision of hospital orderlies who were trained and paid to quickly physically subdue them if they should start becoming violent and posing a danger to themselves, to asylum personnel, or to fellow patients.
In such dangerous cases, they were very promptly straightjacketed and placed in padded isolation rooms where they could neither harm themselves nor others until they calm down. If that didn't work, then electro shock treatment, or else a lobotomy were considered as being helpful.
Now, in stark contrast, the people behaving in those identically insane ways at pubic schools, are being allowed to run rampant without any of those restraints. For example, they are allowed to gather and attempt to cave in one another's other's skulls via kicks during their fighting in the school restrooms, school hallways, and in the adjacent school grounds. They are allowed to constantly verbally and physically abuse the teachers. In short, these mentally- unstable people are seemingly without any effective supervision whatsoever or a law unto themselves.
So, in conclusion, no, absolutely not! Public schools are definitely not in any way similar to those old-time insane asylums, they are much worse. They are equivalent to insane asylums in which the violently-inclined crazies had managed to gain full control of the facility with the facility's personnel's permission.
