Wind Turbine Criticism
Wind Turbines endanger Whales
Politics seems to be a human activity that tends to bring out the negative aspects of the human personality. One of those aspects is to totally misrepresent a political opponent via lies intended to denigrate. One example of this tendency is the criticism of the Biden administration's attempt to shift from fossil fuels to wind-power in order to reduce environmental pollution, by describing wind turbines as detrimental to cetaceans, such as whales, porpoises and dolphins via noise pollution.
But is that really true? Well, here is what research revealed to be the major threats:
1. Ship collisions
2. Accidental entanglement in gillnets
3. Plankton redistribution induced by global warming making it difficult for baleen whales to find and feed.
4. Pollution via offshore oil and gas operations especially dangerous to whales which usually dwell in coastal waters.
5. Sand mining in China and japan
6. Deforestation, affecting fresh-water populations of dolphins such as those found in the Amazon River.
7. Dams that affect food sources via forcing their redistributions

Not one mention of offshore wind turbines is found. Further investigation revealed the following.
What else could have caused the whale deaths?
Of the 178 humpback whale deaths investigated by scientists over the past four years, 40 per cent showed evidence of being killed by ships, or by entanglement with fishing gear.

It’s not just authorities who deny the link between wind turbines and whale deaths.
Greenpeace - who has advocated for whale protection for decades - has scorned the accusations as “baseless claims”.

Then there is the following accusation:
Wind Turbines Have a Higher CO2 imprint than Natural Gas and coal?
This accusation is based on the C02 generated during the manufacturing, up keeping and disposal of the wind turbine itself.
.... the length of time it takes a turbine to produce enough clean electricity to make up for the carbon pollution generated during manufacture. One study put that payback time at seven months — not bad considering the typical 20- to 25-year lifespan of a wind turbine. Bottom line: Wind turbines are far from a joke. For the climate, they’re a deal too good to pass up.

But what do the facts reveal?
What’s the carbon footprint of a wind turbine?
