Only Kids have ever believed professional Wrestling real?
I recently asked a rhetorical question on Twitter concerning whether people today are still thinking that professional wrestling is real, and this person mockingly responded by saying that the only ones thinking it real had always been kids.
Is that actually true? Have kids always been the only ones who considered professional wrestling genuine?
Well, based on my personal experience alone, in which I observed my parents taking it 100% serious, and based on my encounter with adults who took it to be 100 % serious, I can say that this person is wrong. I clearly recall my mom screaming in fear as blows were delivered and people were about to topple over after getting kicked. I recall the serious evaluations of the outcomes that were discussed.
Furthermore, as an adult, I encountered this old geezer in Chicago who was a professional wrestling fanatic fan. He wanted to throw hands with me because I had dared to suggest that it was fake.
There is also plenty of evidence which proves that it was once considered as real by a far larger percentage of adults that consider it real today. In fact, there was a formal declaration informing the public that it was fake. Had it not been considered real, then that such a formal declaration denying it would have been totally unnecessary.

When did people realize wrestling was scripted?
Until the 1920s, professional wrestling in the United States was considered a genuine spectator sport by many. In the 1930s, this viewpoint did not hold up, as professional wrestling became associated with contemporary theatrics, or “confessed fakeness” (“kayfabe”), and moved away from its origins as a display for genuine competition.
Does anyone think wrestling is real?
Yes. For whatever reason, some individuals in the 1970s and 1980s still believed that wrestling was a legitimate sport. It wasn’t until Vince McMahon tore down the fourth wall that the wrestling industry finally admitted that everything had been planned and written in advance. ....
