The Notorious Click-Baiting Plague
Surfing for knowledge on you tube was once fun. They advertised and delivered what they had advertised. But not anymore. Now it can be a veritable exercise in frustration. Why? Because of the rampant and seemingly endless click-baiting from those who post the supposedly informative videos.
Unfortunately, this trend caught me totally by surprise. So I was gullible and swallowed the old proverbial hook line and sinker, as true. I mean, my trust was understandable since I had absolutely no reason to suspect blatant lying. After all, weren't these people was under strict responsible supervision? Isn't YouTube personnel constantly removing accounts because of copyright infringements? In fact, mine was unceremoniously member for that reason with all my digital artwork which was forever lost when my old computer crashed.
So based on this inflexible policy, I had assumed that advertisement could not be fraudulent? Well, unfortunately, that has turned out to be completely wrong. You see, once I began arriving at those URLS which promising Horrifying, Astounding, Terrifying, Astonishing, Revolutionary, events or discoveries, what I began encountering instead was nothing out of the ordinary at all.
For example, the fervently-proclaimed discoveries on Mars constantly invariably turned out to be just plain rocks. Monsters that were vividly illustrated in the ad, were never featured or even mentioned at all in the videos, and the supposedly recent and astonishing innovative inventions were merely monotonous repetitions of what had already been discovered decades ago. For example, one is portraying the Alcubierre warp drive idea as being new when it has been around for decades.

Even worse, many didn't even have the decency to even mention what they had promised to reveal at all. Instead, they nonchalantly began in round-about ways to provide us with common knowledge background information for almost the entire video and then, maybe glibly, revealing that what they had stated to be fact as having been merely conjecture and very unlikely.
Well, at first, I said: "What the hell! Give the bastards a chance and they will deliver what they promise!" But no way Jose! They never did, and I was left there wondering after maybe spending a half hour or more waiting for what was promised, why this disgusting garbage is being allowed.
