Acceptance of Abiogenesis demands Irrationality
Have you ever seen a person acting crazy while calling everyone else insane? This commonly happens in insane asylums where people tend to live in realities entirely dependent on their imaginations. Anything that contradicts their delusion is categorized as insane. Unfortunately, this situation has its counterpart outside the halls of insane asylums. The only difference is that those who think that way are not considered delusional nor insane. Instead, they are given the prestigious academic titles which indicate that they are the epitome of rational thinking. Those who dare to contradict them must be the ones who are flying over the cookoo's nest despite how irrational the ideas they disagree with might be. This is the situation that exists between those who perceive a mind in nature, and those who insist that they don't.
This curious situation can be illustrated by a hypothetical scenario. Let's suppose that some space explorers visit a planet where there are the remains of many machines within abandoned cities. Let's suppose that those who found this place conclude that all these structures and machines are the product of creative minds. Now let's suppose that when they make that report they are ridiculed, called stupid, and their conclusion classified as unwarranted. What would we conclude about the beings who are insisting that the explorers are wrong? Wouldn't we doubt their sanity?
Wouldn't we suspect they have an ulterior motive for demanding that such evidence be ignored? Perhaps they fear the consequences of admitting that the evidence is valid? What exactly causes them to become irrational in relation to that particular evidence while remaining perfectly sane in relation to everything else? Then we notice that those refusing to admit the evidence resort to name-calling, insults, inconsistency of policy. Wouldn't we be inclined to see such individuals as being intentionally irrational?
The same applies to the demand that we be totally blind to evidence of a creative mind in nature. That we irrationally accept that nonliving, unconscious matter has the uncanny ability of displaying very meticulous planning and forethought while being mindless. Simultaneously we are not told exactly how this planning and organization towards a purpose takes place without a creative mind. Where is it? Claiming that a process, such as abiogenesis, that has never been observed in nature and is not demonstrable in a lab is the cause, is no rebuttal at all. So we aren't told.
In fact, no effort whatsoever is put forth to explain it. Instead expressions such as
"For some unknown or mysterious reason...."
"For reasons as yet unknown...."
"The reasons why this happens is as yet unexplained."
Then, if cornered by being shown the irrationality involved in that attitude, name-calling and ridicule are resorted to. Result? By evading cogent reasoning and resorting to fallacy, they manage to cast serious doubt on their sincerity and on the validity of their idea. After all, the only reason why someone resorts to playing unfair in any contest or outside the boundaries of established rules, is because following those rules will lead to certain defeat. In a physical contest it will lead to being overpowered by greater skill or strength. In the area of debating an idea, remaining within the rules will result in being proven wrong. So by refusing to stay logical and consistent and shifting attention to the person's qualifications or personality, they only manage to prove their argument is fatally flawed.
