Best Websites for Biblical Discussion
Not all websites are ideal for the discussion of biblical topics. For example, websites like Randi are predominantly skeptics congregating to pat one another on the back and gang up on anyone who believes in magic, conspiracy theories, or who is religious. Many there were severely psychologically and emotionally traumatized as children by overzealous fanatically-religious parents who made their childhood a living hell and so are extremely resentful.
In fact, such persons are on an unofficially-announced jihad against all religion because they consider it a plague inflicted on the human race which must be eradicated by any means possible. So this psychological condition motivates their mockery and total refusal to conceded anything regardless of the evidence presented or the irrefutable logic being used.
Such websites are not good places for a Christian to be. They can gradually and inexorably wear a Christian down and even eventually provoke a loss of temper. Ironically, when I lost mine at Randi's, approx fifteen years ago, a host of lurkers were disappointed because they said they had been following my responses with intense interest. That made me feel a very deep regret and shame at having given in to frustration and expressing anger at that crucial point.
So unless you as a Christian have nerves of steel, participation in such websites is not recommended. Jesus also seems to caution us about wasting our time in such places:
Matthew 7:6 NIV
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
"Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.
However, websites which include atheists, skeptics and Christians, such as the Christian Website, are much different. There the battle is easier because there are fellow Christian warriors who will step in and lend a hand and offer words of encouragement when needed.
3. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 “Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
4. Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.
Here on this website, of course, the real challenge is to ignore the unfortunate, and prevailing dead silence and to confidently plow ahead anyway in the faith hoping that the seed of knowledge lands on good ground, and that then God will make some of it sprout. To make sure that the seed is spread more widely, I regularly post to Facebook, not just links, but full commentaries on the Bible in order to make sure that the message doesn't depend on their coming here to read it.
