Living Stones = Christian Church
The Church of God is composed of living stones chosen by God himself and is not a literal building or an organization. He chooses those stones and he doesn't just go by denominational membership, he goes by the condition of a person's heart. The potential that the person has for righteousness, The willingness that person has to abide by his statutes. Using his vast powers of discernment, to carefully weigh all the relevant factors which have contributed to a person's personality-both hereditary and socio -cultural. in order to determine the degree of culpability. No human ion this earth is qualified for that job and no human should ever be so presumptuous as to attempt it.
1 Samuel 16:7 ►
New International Version
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
Yet some do and in that way commit injustices. So keeping that in mind will prevent us from feeling that we must join some organization in order to be considered worthy of eternal life. I realize that now but a few years ago I was still at it, Seeking that organization that I could identify as God's people on Earth.
A few years ago I even almost became an Amish. Yep, full beard, suspenders, the whole disaster. I was still searching for the ORGANIZATION of God on Earth and thought I had found it finally in the Amish. I came within a hair's-breadth of getting baptized into that religion. This African American woman who worked at the Broad street Market as a janitor, noticed and became infuriated. Told me that she knew exactly what I was looking for. I think she meant that I was joining in order to get my meat-hooks into Amish female flesh. You know, marry one of the women there. Nope! That was not the reason. I was sincerely seeking God. Not that it was any of her business. But I guess there are certain things that tend to get on certain people's nerves and seeing a Latino trying to become an Amish was one of them. LOL!
Fortunately, eventually, I came to realize that the Amish are more Merchants seeking to make a profit, than they are Christians. Realized that hypocrisy is rife among them just as it is with all so-called Christian denominations and that the true Christian Church is composed of the living stones described by the Apostle Paul, God chooses, not man. God approves and determines who will gain eternal life, not some imperfect, sinful man destined to become dust because he himself is sinful.
Keeping that viewpoint has brought me peace of mind, and I no longer worry what any human's opinion might be about how I stack up as a Christian. Only God is my judge and in him alone I put my trust. I strongly suggest that you do the same.
1 Peter 2:5
As you come to Him, the living stone, rejected by men but chosen and precious in God’s sight, 5you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6For it stands in Scripture: “See, I lay in Zion a stone, a chosen and precious cornerstone; and the one who believes in Him will never be put to shame.
