My Take on Bernard Hopkins vs Trinidad Encounter
Radrook
That Puerto Rican national anthem was nice. but what What impressed me most was the total lack of animosity towards Bernard after he trampled their Puerto Rican flag. That's because these New Yoricans identify with African American to a great degree. They have cunningly been culturally nullified.
BTW In Puerto Rico, both national anthems are required to be sung by schoolchildren. Both flags are hoisted side by side. The singing of the PR national anthem was forbidden at first. It has only been allowed by the USA fairly recently in PR history.
It would have been interesting to see how that flag-trampling stunt would have played out had he tried it in Mexico.

Almost twenty years ago and I’m still butt hurt over this. Hopkins broke my Puerto Rican heart that night. Lol Respect to B-Hop. Masterful performance.

I thought you were going to say he broke your PR heart by trampling on your precious Puerto Rican flag. LOL! You are New Yorican-right?

Excellent footwork from Hopkins... That little movement clearly took Tito by surprise. He couldn't load up and if he took a jab Hopkins was out of range... Great boxing match...

If you are a one-dimensional you will be predictable. Predictability is not good in any battle, including boxing because the opponent can prepare meticulously against it. Winky Wright very easily proved that Trinidad wasn't as great of a technical challenge as he was imagined to be. Alexis Arguello would have probably been less of a challenge for Trininad since he was equally as robotic. However, Pryor would have given Bernard a lot of trouble.

Even though Trinidad got destroyed in this fight at the end I'm happy that Hopkins still showed him respect telling him whatever you got to do to redeem yourself we can make the rematch happen even though deep down it was never happening

That's because he knew he would easily win again. As for respect, that doesn't compensate for his trampling on on Trinidad's homeland flag while hurling insults BTW It would have been interesting to see how that flag-trampling stunt would have played out had he tried it in Mexico.

Hop: So proud to be American! Love Bernard.

Oh Really? Were you also proud to be an American when Ruiz beat Joshua? Most Afro and Anglo Americans were rooting for for the Briton Joshua.
